Plan by trade and arrival wave
List each trade, headcount per wave and the date workers must be productive. Work backwards from that date, adding realistic time for approvals, medicals and travel.
Make sure your approvals are in place
- Valid trade licence and commercial registration
- Available work-permit or visa quota
- Compliance with nationalisation requirements (for example Nitaqat, Emiratisation, Omanisation)
- Approved contract templates and wage-payment arrangements
Prepare the accommodation and onboarding
Do not confirm a batch until beds, transport, PPE, induction slots and supervisor assignments are ready. Workers who arrive without a clear plan are the most likely to leave early.
Sourcing, screening and selection
- Agree test criteria and pass marks upfront
- Decide who will interview and approve
- Hold a reserve of 15 to 25 percent extra candidates to cover drop-outs
- Verify documents before they enter the approval pipeline
Arrival-day and first-month checklist
- Airport reception and transport to accommodation
- Residency, ID and medical steps scheduled
- Safety induction before site work begins
- A welfare check-in during the first week and the first month
