The two routes
Employers can recruit through a registered recruiting agent, or in some cases hire directly through the government system or their own HR team. Each route involves trade-offs in speed, cost and risk.
When an agency makes sense
- You lack an India presence or recruiters familiar with local sourcing
- You need volume or speed
- You want screening, testing and documentation handled for you
- You hire repeatedly and want a reliable bench
When direct hiring can work
- You hire small numbers of professionals with existing candidate networks
- You have in-house expertise in Indian emigration processes
- The candidates are ECNR and not subject to clearance
What to ask any agency
- Registration and licence details, which you can verify
- A written commitment to the no-fees-for-workers principle
- Sample candidate profiles and test reports
- Replacement terms and escalation contacts
- References from Gulf clients in your sector
Our recommendation
For volume trades and time-critical projects, a registered partner almost always gives better speed and compliance than building a team from scratch. For specialised professionals, a hybrid approach with direct employer interviews works well.
